Every once in a while it’s nice to hear something really different, and in most genres it’s quite rare to have your expectations be so pleasantly blown away.  This is the case with Stuart Townend’s new release The Journey. As a writer Stuart has added some great songs to that modern worship song book, but his sound on his latest album is anything but typical.  It’s best to describe it as a folk/celtic kind of mix, and it’s really easy and so enjoyable to listen to. If you’re looking for something a little different in the music department, then check out this album. Click here to listen and to buy.

Each year, Passion usually release a compilation album recorded live at their annual conference. This year’s effort, 'Here for You', captures the voices of over 20,000 students singing along with leaders Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels, David Crowder Band, Kristian Stanfill, Matt Redman and Charlie Hall. The affecting atmosphere of the event is perfectly captured within the confines of the 12 tracks.  There’s a reason why many of today’s brightest worship leaders and songwriters originate from the Passion camp. Listen to 'Here for You' and you’ll discover why.  Click here to listen and/or to buy.

'Creation Sings' is Stuart Townend’s seventh solo album, following hot on the heels of the successful 'Best Of' and 'There Is A Hope' albums. It’s a studio recording with a strongly acoustic sound, drawing on the strong melodic traditions of English, Scottish and Irish folk and combining them with classical, country and gospel influences to create a very distinctive worship sound. There are instruments that don’t usually make it onto worship albums and sounds that set this album apart from the usual offerings that cram the shelves of the worship section of your local shop. Church Music is an album which is designed to play continuously to form one seamless suite of music. The customary David Crowder Band driving rhythms & striking melodies are present and correct, and it seems the band is striking out ever further towards its creative zenith.  At 17 songs, the album, as a whole, may seem a tad long and hard to digest at one sitting. Patience and persistence, however, reveals a profound joy in the Lord and some strong theological lyrical content (listen to "The Veil" as one example) making this a beautifully rounded piece of work.  Click here to listen or to buy.

This is the third solo album of Phatfish front-woman Lou Fellingham. The title track is genuinely encouraging and invites to a life of freedom in God, liberated from fear and guilt. "Christ In Me" develops from a calm devotional song into a rich, dynamic sweep of sound. Alongside the skilled songwriting and Lou's tenderly expressive singing there is top rate musicianship with deft contributions from Amy Winehouse's drummer Troy Miller and tasty guitar licks from one time Delirious? man Stu G. Even in a scene awash with worship albums, 'Step Into The Light' stands out.  Click here for more.

Phil Wickham
’s latest release is a superb album.  The opener "Eden" bursts into view in an explosion of vibrant sound setting the scene for an album that excels in every sense. In a release where every track is a highlight, "The Time Is Now" stands out courtesy of an unforgettable melody, a stirring performance from Wickham and a delightful cameo from the London Symphony Orchestra and would be reason enough to buy this album were it not for 11 other equally great songs. 'Heaven & Earth' is fantastic from start to finish.  Click here for more.
