Prayer

  • Pray for the fishing industry here in N Ireland and all who are involved within it.
  • Pray for Alan McCulla and others involved in representing the industry locally, nationally and in Europe.  Pray about the discussions and decisions which will take place in Brussels later in December.
  • Give thanks for the work of the Fishermen’s Mission and for all that Maurice and Debbie Lake seek to do for God’s Kingdom.
  • For all who work in and around the harbour, in the factories and in the fishing ancillary services.
  • One of the projects which we support is Wakisa Ministries in Kampala, Uganda.  Recently they suffered a major setback when the dormitory was gutted in a fire of unknown origin.  Thankfully no one was injured, but Vivian (who runs Wakisa) and the girls are in shock.  Pray for everyoneinvolved, that they will know God’s guidance in dealing with the damage and trying to rebuild.
  • Keep on praying for the children and young people who are part of the suffering Church.  
  • The discussion continues among our political leaders about a National Park.  Pray about this issue and ask God to guide all those involved in making a good decision.
  •  Pray for the work of Arab World Ministries (AWM).
  •  For Majed and Anja as they live in Belfast and continue their work amongst Muslim people and the work of translation.
  • Give thanks for the Sunday School and Youth Fellowship.  Pray for all the young people and their leaders.  Give thanks for Dave and Megan and pray God’s guidance on their work.
  • Give thanks for ten years of witness to the local community by means of the Lifebuilders Gym.
  • Give thanks for the resolution of the Presbyterian Mutual Society problem.  Give thanks for all those who worked very hard to get it sorted.
  • East Africa is facing its worst drought since the 1950’s resulting in a severe food crisis in the region.  More than ten million people are now affected, mostly in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia.  The food crisis in Somali has now been declared to be a famine.  PRAY earnestly into this situation and for all the agencies who are trying to bring aid.
  •  Pray for the PSNI and anti-drug agencies as they seek to counter the drug problem in our society.  Pray that those who peddle drugs in the Kilkeel area will be brought to justice.  
  • Give thanks for the work of CSSM, Kitty’s Road and the Jim’s 6:8 Project.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will use all of this work and that Christ will be honoured in many lives as a result.
  • For Christians to show faith, hope and love in bringing the gospel to the Muslim people.
  • For Dan and Primrose Avila serving with European Christian Mission in Kosova.
  • For Steve and Lynsey Auld serving with AIM International in Madagascar.
  • That we will all, through the work of the Holy Spirit, have a greater and deeper understanding of the Big Picture of the Gospel.
  • The elders have appointed Christopher Wallace to be the Captain of our BB. Give thanks for Christopher’s willingness to accept this appointment and pray for him and others alongside him who will lead.
  • For Southern Sudan which has recently been made independent.  Pray for God’s guidance to be with all in positions of responsibility.
  •  Those who are unwell at home or hospital and those who care for them.
  •  Those families who have recently been bereaved.
  • For God to speak and bless at Sunday Services this weekend.
  • For those who are housebound due to senior years, disability, caring duties.
  • Rev June Parke (assisted by her husband Rev Ken Bradley) as she ministers in Brookborough and two other churches in that area of South Fermanagh.
  • Those who care for the frail or disabled, whether as family members or in their daily work.
  • Vision for a new outreach to the city of Newry. 

  • Rural congregations—many without a minister at present; new families moving out from the city; rural/farming families coping with change.

  • Those we know coping with pain and receiving treatment.
  • The outreach by friendship evangelism to our neighbours on Kittys Road.
  • Those who care for and maintain our church property — Jackie as caretaker and Jennifer as our church cleaner.
  • Thank God for those who pray for the ongoing work in our Church — alone at home, in triplets or at various meetings in the Church.
  •  Remember Karen and Rhonda (Westport) and David, Jenny and family (Dublin), praying God’s blessing upon them in this approach to Easter.

  •  Give thanks for the work of Noah’s Ark Parent and Toddler Group and pray that through this work the Kingdom of God will be extended in many lives.
     
  •  Pray for all those facing unemployment and financial pressures.
  • We give thanks for  Ho and Laura-Jane Meas (and their son Joseph) and pray God’s blessing on their work of representing the work of OMF (Overseas Missionary Fellowship).
  •  Remember to pray for Wilson and Irene McMahon in the Philippines.  For Gavin at school (Faith Academy) and for Owen and Anna-Claire at home here in N Ireland.
  •  For our province—for peace and the thwarting of evil.  For the PSNI as they seek to counter the “dissidents”.  For all that is good and of God to prosper and for all that is not of God to come to nothing.
  • For our local community here in the Kingdom of Mourne—for peace, good relationships and generally for the blessing of God upon all who live in this area. 
  • Pray that all people of Sudan may have peace, justice, freedom and an opportunity to prosper.
  • For everyone who claims to be a Christian to have a fresh experience of the love of God for us.  That we would then be renewed in our love for the Lord and our love for others.
  • For the young people from the Mourne area who have gone to Australia.  For their safety, well being and overall physical, emotional and spiritual health.
  • For the situation in Egypt—Egyptians are hopeful for a change, but some are deeply concerned that extremist groups might gain control if there is a power vacuum.  Churches and Christians in Egypt are praying and asking Christians around the world to pray for a resolution to this crisis that will lead to new openness and equality for all members of Egyptian society.

  • For the Moderator  within the PCI — Rev Ivan Patterson from Newcastle.
     
  •  For the work and ministry of Bible Colleges here in this country, north and south—for the Belfast Bible College and the Irish Bible Institute (Dublin).  Pray for all who teach and those who study, both on site and from a distance.
  • For the work of our Sunday School and youth organisations.  Give thanks for teachers, helpers and young people.  Pray for a lasting work to be carried out in young hearts.
     
  • For young people who don’t show much interest in Christ, maybe because of the unhelpful influence of friends and peer pressure.  Pray for them.
     
  • For the Presbytery as they think and pray about a new Gospel venture in the city of Newry.  Pray for a real sense of the leading of the Spirit in this matter.
  •  Those whose jobs are under pressure—with all the attendant fears and needs that brings.
     
  •  Those whose finances are under serious pressure.  Fear of not being able to pay the bills—and maybe even fear of house re-possession.  Debt is an increasing problem,  and may I add that if there is any specific advice needed, please do get in touch and I will point you to a wonderful Christian debt advice network.
  •  Pray for our local community and for the promotion of all that is for good and for God.  Pray for all Christian based agencies in our community as they seek to provide an alternative to drugs, alcoholic abuse, anti-social behaviour and general boredom!
  • For Steve & Lynsey Auld in Madagascar—Pray for Steve and a colleague Graeme who are running an open evangelistic Bible Study for men on Sundays. Give thanks for the men who have come, heard the Good News and taken Bibles.  Pray that they will read them and discover the Lord Jesus Christ.  
  • Remember those who are struggling with unemployment and financial pressures.  Pray that God will guide us as a church family in showing the practical love and care of our Lord.
  • For the Youth Work in our local church—for young lives to be changed by the power of God’s amazing grace.
  •  Pray for the work in Adelaide Road, Dublin.  Pray for Rev Sam Mawhinney and his family and for David and Jenny Boyd and their family as together they seek to extend Christ’s Kingdom in that city.
  • The River Walk and Lower Square part of our town seems to be the focus for lots of anti-social behaviour.  Pray into this matter and pray for the young people involved that they would find fulfilment in other things.
     
  • Pray about the problem of drugs in the Kingdom of Mourne and across our land.  Pray for successful breakthroughs for the anti-drug agencies in their battle against this social evil.

  • Give thanks for emergency services like the Fire Service, Ambulance Service and the PSNI.  Pray for God’s guidance and protection in all that they do.
     
  • Remember our young people at school, college, university, work and those seeking work.

  • Give thanks for the work of the London City Mission.  Pray for this wonderful work that God would use it wonderfully in the spreading of the good news in our capital city. 

  • The ongoing conflict in Afghanistan.  Pray for the forces involved and for chaplains ministering Christ to these forces.  Pray for peace in that troubled land.

  • For our nation in these cynical and difficult days.  For all who seek to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.

  • For our province… for the thwarting of evil and the promotion of all that is for peace and godliness.

  • Pray for a real sense of the Lord’s presence at our Sunday services. Pray that through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word that lives will be transformed.

  • Give thanks for the church website and pray that many from outside the church will be drawn to look it up online and find out more about what we stand for.
     
  • Pray for personal renewal and revival within the lives of all Christians.

  • Pray for true conversions to Christ within our church and within the wider community.

  • For the Suffering Church… our brothers and sisters in the faith who suffer daily because they are Christians.

  • Give thanks for the work done by the Uganda Project team.Praise God that all the work was accomplished.  Pray for their de-briefing meeting coming up soon.

  • Pray for our government (in Belfast and London) as they make difficult and strategic decisions.

  • Pray for Churches and other groups as they seek to promote good relations in our land.

  • Pray for all those involved in the fishing industry and especially those who find the going difficult.  For all those from other countries that they will be treated fairly and find their time in our country a blessing.
